The Fuze is my second MP3 player. My first was Real Player running on my Palm Zire. The Fuze is much smaller and has more controls than the Zire. I really love it. It's simple to use and can be controlled with one hand without a stylus. I have never tried an iPod so I have no comparison. I would not pay the price for an iPod.
I have not tried to upload movies or pictures to the Fuze nor have I tried the additional memory card. I do like being able to upload music to the player by moving just the songs I select and I don't have to use another new piece of computer software.
The only con I have is that it doesn't come with some sort of holder clip. I would prefer a belt clip. I usually carry it in my shirt pocket because I'm afraid it will get damaged in my pants pocket. I have dropped it several times because it comes out of my shirt when I bend over.
The player itself is nice, works well. However, transferring content onto the device is not straightforward.
You are stuck with Windows Media Player's somewhat byzantine arrangements. While the user's guide says you can load content directly to the device via copying to internal memory, you can't actually get to the content. So, the file is there, but you can't listen to it.
This is particularly troublesome when (trying to) listen to audiobooks.
I've been using mine for about 6 months now. It's a decent low cost music player. My main gripe with it is that they still haven't got gapless playback. If I had known that when I ordered it I would have passed and looked for a different unit. Other than that I have only minor complaints. The battery life is ok but not as good as they claim. Never is though, right. I love the microSD feature and it was my main reason for buying. Too bad I forgot about gapless playback though. Wish they would get off their butts and add that feature.
I bought 3 of these as gifts for my kids at Christmas. I wanted to get them mp3 players, but also wanted to make sure that they wouldn't outgrow the storage capacity. After some research I found that the Fuze offered the greatest potential to satisfy my needs at a price that couldn't be beat. These retail for close to $100 at the store but I was able to find them at half that here on Amazon. These not only match the capabilities of any iPod, but have a few functions that surpass the iPod (radio, voice recorder, expandable memory...) and it costs 3-4 times less!!! In my opinion this is the highest value multimedia device on the market.
